Kamma Ludvigsen McMahon is a London-based fashion designer
and artist, designing for both menswear and womenswear.
Her work begins with an exploration of life. Using sociological
and philosophical ideas as a starting point for something
visual to emerge. Silhouettes and sculpted shapes come from
these theories by draping and playing with items unrelated
to clothing.
Kamma is interested in the tension between comfort and
restriction, softness and structure, and the familiar and
the unexpected.
Through experimentation with fabric, padding, pleating,
draping and pattern cutting, her work develops through a
process of manipulating materials and allowing unexpected
shapes to emerge. This approach creates garments that sit
between fashion, sculpture and art.
Her practice is rooted in a desire to question how we move
through contemporary life and how clothing can affect,
challenge or interrupt that experience. The work aims to
create pieces that feel both intuitive and unfamiliar.
